Possible Causes

Tripped kitchen circuit breaker, Faulty Teka sink-top air switch or wall switch, Loose mains connection at disposal terminal box, Defective power cord or plug

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Always disconnect the disposal from mains power at the circuit breaker before touching wiring or the unit. Never put your hand into the grinding chamber.

  • Step 1 – Check the breaker: Go to your electrical panel and locate the circuit for the sink/disposal. Reset any tripped breaker fully OFF then back ON. Test the disposal again using the Teka switch.
  • Step 2 – Verify the wall or sink-top switch: If your Teka disposal uses a sink-top air switch, press it several times and listen for a click at the control box. For a wall switch, toggle it several times. If the indicator on the Teka control (if fitted) does not light, the switch or its feed may be faulty.
  • Step 3 – Inspect the power cord and plug: Unplug the disposal (if it uses a plug). Check for burn marks, cuts, or loose prongs. Replace the cord set if damaged. For hard‑wired models, remove the lower wiring cover and verify that the live, neutral, and earth wires are firmly secured in the terminal block.
  • Step 4 – Test the outlet: Plug in another appliance (like a lamp) to confirm the outlet has power. If the outlet is dead but the breaker is OK, contact an electrician.
  • Step 5 – If power is present but unit still dead: Proceed to check the overload reset (see E02) and the internal control module. If you are not comfortable with electrical testing, contact a qualified technician.
