Possible Causes
Failed soft-start capacitor, Defective triac or relay on control PCB, Loose connection to motor start winding, Voltage drop on supply line
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Isolate power at the breaker. Capacitors can store charge; discharge safely before handling.
- Step 1 – Observe behavior: If the unit starts with a loud clunk and immediate full speed, or fails to start and only hums briefly, the soft-start circuit may be compromised.
- Step 2 – Inspect internal wiring: Remove the lower cover and check that all spade connectors to the motor and capacitor are tight and not heat‑discolored.
- Step 3 – Check capacitor (if accessible): Look for bulging, leaking, or burnt smell from the start/soft‑start capacitor. Replace with the exact µF rating specified by Teka.
- Step 4 – Test supply voltage: Have a qualified person measure voltage at the unit while starting. Significant drop may indicate wiring issues upstream.
- Step 5 – Replace control PCB if needed: If wiring and capacitor are good, the soft‑start electronics on the PCB are likely faulty and the module should be replaced.
