Possible Causes

Excessive food load introduced at once, Very fibrous or starchy waste causing high torque, Miscalibrated load sensor on PCB, Partially worn grinding components increasing load

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn OFF the unit before attempting to clear food from the chamber.

  • Step 1 – Reduce load: Remove some of the food waste from the sink opening using tongs or a scoop. Do not use your hands.
  • Step 2 – Run with water only: Turn on a strong flow of cold water and briefly run the disposal empty to clear any packed material.
  • Step 3 – Feed gradually: Reintroduce food waste slowly, in small batches, allowing the unit to clear each portion before adding more.
  • Step 4 – Reset electronics: If E10 persists, switch OFF power at the breaker for 2–3 minutes to reset the control. Restore power and test again.
  • Step 5 – Service if recurring: Frequent E10 with light loads may indicate a faulty load sensor or worn grinding plate. Have a technician inspect and replace the affected parts.
