Possible Causes
Deteriorated sink flange gasket, Loose mounting ring, Insufficient plumber's putty or sealant, Corroded sink flange
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF power and avoid using the disposal or sink until the leak is repaired to prevent water entering the motor.
- Step 1 – Confirm leak source: Fill the sink with water and add a few drops of food coloring. Observe from below to see if colored water seeps from the top of the disposal.
- Step 2 – Tighten mounting ring: Slightly tighten the three mounting screws evenly to compress the gasket. Do not overtighten to the point of deforming the sink.
- Step 3 – Replace gasket if needed: If tightening does not stop the leak, the sink flange must be removed. Support the disposal, release the mounting ring, and push the flange up out of the sink. Clean old putty and install a new Teka-compatible sink flange gasket and fresh plumber's putty or sealant.
- Step 4 – Reassemble and test: Refit the disposal to the flange, tighten evenly, then fill the sink again to check for leaks.
