Possible Causes
Loose discharge flange screws, Cracked rubber discharge gasket, Misaligned discharge pipe, Over-tightened or cross-threaded coupling
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF power and place a container under the leak area.
- Step 1 – Tighten connection: Gently tighten the metal band clamp or slip nut at the discharge outlet. Do not overtighten plastic fittings.
- Step 2 – Inspect gasket: If leaking persists, disconnect the discharge pipe and inspect the rubber gasket or O‑ring on the disposal outlet. Replace if cracked, flattened, or missing.
- Step 3 – Check alignment: Ensure the drain pipe lines up naturally with the outlet; adjust pipe length or fittings so the pipe does not pull the outlet sideways.
- Step 4 – Reassemble and test: Reconnect the pipe with the new gasket, run water, and observe for leaks while briefly operating the disposal.
