Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Turn OFF the breaker and verify no power is present. Do not repeatedly reset a tripping unit.
- Step 1 – Inspect for external leaks: Check the sink flange, mounting assembly, and plumbing above the disposal for leaks that may drip onto the motor.
- Step 2 – Dry the area: If moisture is present on the outside, dry the cabinet and unit thoroughly. Do not open the motor housing.
- Step 3 – Attempt single reset: After at least 24 hours of drying time, press the reset button once and test briefly. If it trips immediately, internal components are likely shorted.
- Step 4 – Do not bypass protection: Never bypass the reset or use a larger fuse/breaker. This is a fire and shock hazard.
Persistent E08 or immediate tripping indicates a serious internal electrical fault. Replace the Tweeny disposal and correct any source of water intrusion.
