Garbage disposal emits foul odors even after running with water

Safety First: Turn OFF and unplug the disposal before cleaning. Do not use harsh chemical drain cleaners.

• Step 1 – Clean splash guard: Remove the Tweeny splash guard and scrub both sides with hot soapy water and a brush.
• Step 2 – Deodorize chamber: Pour a mixture of baking soda and vinegar into the disposal, let it foam for 10–15 minutes, then flush with hot water.
• Step 3 – Ice and citrus cleaning: With power ON, run cold water and grind a tray of ice cubes with small citrus peels to help scour the grind ring.
• Step 4 – Clean discharge elbow: If odors persist, remove and clean the discharge elbow and nearby drain piping.
