Possible Causes
Loose mounting assembly on Waste King EZ-Mount or 3-Bolt mount, Warped or damaged turntable, Broken or missing swivel impeller, Foreign object stuck on one side of grinding chamber
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF power at the breaker. Never put your hand into the disposal.
- Step 1 – Inspect for foreign objects: Using a flashlight, look into the sink opening. Use tongs or pliers to remove any visible objects (utensils, bones, glass) that could cause imbalance.
- Step 2 – Check splash guard: Remove the splash guard/baffle (on EZ-Mount models) and clean any debris that may be caught and causing vibration.
- Step 3 – Verify mounting tightness: Under the sink, grasp the disposal and gently try to move it. If it wobbles, tighten the mounting ring on EZ-Mount models or the 3-bolt mounting assembly until the unit is firmly secured to the sink flange.
- Step 4 – Manually rotate turntable: Insert the jam-buster wrench into the bottom hex and rotate. Feel for rough spots or binding that could indicate a bent turntable or damaged impeller.
- Step 5 – Test with water running: Restore power, run cold water, and briefly operate the disposal. If vibration is still severe and E7 returns, the internal grinding components are likely damaged and the disposal should be replaced.
