Possible Causes
Corrosion on EZ-Mount ring, Dried plumber’s putty bonding flange, Mineral deposits around sink flange, Deformed mounting lugs
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF power and disconnect the disposal from the outlet or junction box before attempting removal.
- Step 1 – Support the unit: Place a box or sturdy support under the disposal to hold its weight.
- Step 2 – Release mounting ring: On EZ-Mount models, insert a screwdriver into one of the mounting lugs and rotate counterclockwise. Apply penetrating oil to the ring if corroded and allow it to soak.
- Step 3 – Tap gently: Use a rubber mallet to gently tap the ring to break corrosion. Do not strike the sink or flange directly.
- Step 4 – Remove flange if needed: If the disposal cannot be separated, remove the entire sink flange and mounting assembly from above and replace with a new Waste King mounting kit.
