Garbage disposal leaks from the side where the dishwasher hose connects.

Possible Causes
Loose dishwasher hose clamp, Cracked dishwasher inlet nipple on Waste King housing, Deteriorated rubber dishwasher connector, Knockout plug fragments preventing seal
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF power and do not run the dishwasher or disposal until the leak is fixed.
- Step 1 – Inspect hose connection: Locate the dishwasher inlet on the side of the disposal. Check that the hose is fully seated and the clamp is tight.
- Step 2 – Tighten or replace clamp: Use a screwdriver or nut driver to tighten the hose clamp. If the clamp is rusted or damaged, replace it with a new stainless-steel clamp.
- Step 3 – Check rubber connector: If your installation uses a rubber dishwasher connector, inspect it for cracks or hardening. Replace if needed.
- Step 4 – Verify knockout removal: On new installations, ensure the internal knockout plug was fully removed from the dishwasher inlet. Any remaining plastic can prevent a proper seal.
- Step 5 – Inspect inlet nipple: If the plastic or metal inlet on the disposal is cracked, the housing is compromised and the disposal must be replaced.
