Garbage disposal switch produces a buzzing sound but the unit does not run.

Safety first: Turn OFF the circuit breaker before removing the switch cover or touching wiring.

• Step 1 – Inspect switch: Remove the wall plate and gently pull out the switch. Look for burn marks or loose wires.
• Step 2 – Tighten connections: Tighten any loose terminal screws and ensure wires are firmly under the screws or in the backwire clamps.
• Step 3 – Replace switch: If the switch is buzzing or shows signs of damage, replace it with a new single-pole switch rated for the circuit.
