Possible Causes
Loose EZ-Mount or 3-bolt mounting assembly, Foreign object stuck on one side of turntable, Bent turntable or impeller, Misaligned discharge piping putting stress on unit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF power at the breaker before adjusting the mounting assembly.
- Step 1 – Clear chamber: Use tongs to remove any visible debris. Rotate the impellers with a wooden spoon to ensure nothing is stuck.
- Step 2 – Check mounting tightness: Under the sink, grasp the disposal and try to move it. Tighten the mounting ring or 3-bolt assembly evenly until the unit is firmly secured to the sink flange.
- Step 3 – Inspect discharge alignment: Ensure the discharge elbow and drain pipes are aligned without forcing the disposal to one side. Adjust piping if necessary.
- Step 4 – Test with water: Restore power, run cold water, and briefly operate the disposal. If vibration remains severe, internal components may be bent.
- Step 5 – Replace if internal damage: If tightening and clearing debris do not resolve the vibration, replace the disposal to prevent damage to the sink and plumbing.
