Water backs up into the dishwasher or into the sink when the dishwasher runs, especially near the disposal.

• Step 1 – Inspect dishwasher hose: Check the hose from the dishwasher to the disposal for kinks, sags, or clogs. Straighten and support the hose as needed.
• Step 2 – Remove hose from disposal: Place a towel or pan under the connection. Loosen the clamp and pull the hose off the dishwasher inlet on the disposal.
• Step 3 – Clear inlet: Use a small brush or screwdriver to remove any food debris blocking the inlet. Ensure the knockout plug was fully removed during installation.
• Step 4 – Flush hose: Take the hose to another sink or outdoors and flush it with water to clear any obstructions.
• Step 5 – Reconnect and test: Reattach the hose with a secure clamp, ensuring a high loop or air gap as required by code. Run the dishwasher and check for proper draining.
