Possible Causes
Shared circuit with other heavy loads, Loose neutral or hot connection in panel or junction box, Motor starting capacitor (if equipped) failing, Circuit amperage too low for Waste Maid horsepower rating
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Electrical panel work should be done by a qualified person. Turn OFF the breaker before opening junction boxes.
- Check circuit loading: Identify what else is on the same circuit as the disposal. Avoid running other heavy loads (microwave, toaster) simultaneously.
- Inspect junction box connections: Under the sink, ensure all wire nuts are tight and wires are properly twisted together.
- Observe light dimming: Mild, brief dimming can be normal. Severe or prolonged dimming suggests a wiring or supply issue.
- Consult an electrician: Have the disposal placed on a dedicated circuit of appropriate amperage if possible, and have panel connections checked for loose neutrals or hots.
