Possible Causes
Worn internal shaft seal, Corroded Waste Maid grinding chamber, Cracked disposal housing, Long-term leakage from sink flange damaging internal components
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Turn OFF power at the breaker and unplug the disposal. Do not operate a disposal that leaks from the bottom.
- Confirm leak location: Run water into the sink (disposal OFF) and observe under the sink. If water drips from the very bottom or motor area, the internal seal is compromised.
- Check external connections: Verify that the sink flange, discharge elbow, and dishwasher inlet are not the source. Dry the exterior and recheck.
- Do not attempt internal seal repair: Waste Maid disposals are factory-sealed; internal shaft seals and chamber corrosion are not user-serviceable.
- Replace the disposal: Remove the old unit from the mounting assembly and install a new Waste Maid disposal, reusing the existing mounting hardware if compatible or replacing with the new kit.
