Waste Maid
Leaking Dishwasher Inlet Connection
Garbage disposal leaks from the side where the dishwasher hose connects
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Loose dishwasher hose clamp, Cracked dishwasher inlet nipple on Waste Maid housing, Deteriorated rubber dishwasher connector, Over-tightened clamp cutting into hose
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Turn OFF power to the disposal and dishwasher. Do not run either appliance until the leak is fixed.
- Tighten the clamp: Use a screwdriver to snug the dishwasher hose clamp at the Waste Maid inlet. Do not overtighten to the point of cutting the hose.
- Inspect hose and nipple: Check for cracks in the plastic inlet nipple and splits in the dishwasher hose. Flex the hose slightly to reveal hidden cracks.
- Replace damaged parts: If the hose is brittle or cracked, replace it with a new dishwasher drain hose and new clamp. If the inlet nipple on the disposal is cracked, the disposal housing is compromised and the unit should be replaced.
- Test for leaks: Run the dishwasher drain cycle or pour water through the hose while observing the connection. Re-adjust the clamp if needed.
