Possible Causes
Knockout plug still installed in Waste Maid dishwasher inlet, Clogged dishwasher inlet port, Kinked dishwasher drain hose, Air gap blockage (if equipped)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Turn OFF power to both the dishwasher and disposal. Do not run the dishwasher until the drain issue is resolved.
- Check knockout plug: Disconnect the dishwasher hose from the Waste Maid inlet and look inside. If a solid plastic disk is present, the knockout plug was never removed. Remove the disposal (or fully support it), knock out the plug with a screwdriver and hammer, and remove the loose disk from the grinding chamber.
- Clean inlet port: Clear any debris from the inlet nipple with a small brush or screwdriver.
- Inspect hose: Check the dishwasher drain hose for kinks or clogs. Flush it with water if needed.
- Check air gap: If your system has an air gap on the sink, remove the cap and clean out any debris.
- Reconnect and test: Reattach the hose securely and run a dishwasher drain cycle to confirm proper operation.
