Possible Causes
Loose slip nut, Misaligned discharge elbow, Damaged rubber gasket or washer, Cracked PVC tailpiece
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Turn OFF the disposal and do not run water until the leak is addressed.
- Tighten slip nuts: Use channel-lock pliers or by hand to snug the slip nut connecting the Waste Maid discharge elbow to the drain pipe. Do not overtighten plastic nuts.
- Inspect gasket: Disassemble the joint and check the rubber gasket or washer for cracks or deformation. Replace if damaged.
- Check alignment: Ensure the pipes are aligned without stress. Misalignment can cause leaks even with tight nuts.
- Replace cracked parts: Replace any cracked PVC tailpieces or elbows.
- Test for leaks: Run water and the disposal while observing the joint.
