Waste Maid
Imbalanced Grinding Plate / Loose Mounting
Garbage disposal vibrates excessively and shakes the sink or countertop during operation

Possible Causes
Foreign object stuck on one side of grinding plate, Bent impeller lug, Loose mounting ring, Missing or damaged rubber anti-vibration mount
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Turn OFF the wall switch and breaker before inspecting the unit.
- Inspect for foreign objects: Shine a flashlight into the disposal and remove any large items or buildup on one side of the grinding plate using pliers.
- Check impeller movement: Gently move each impeller lug with a wooden spoon handle. They should swing freely. A stuck lug can cause imbalance.
- Verify mounting tightness: Under the sink, check that the Waste Maid mounting ring is fully locked and the three mounting tabs are engaged. Tighten the mounting screws evenly if present.
- Inspect rubber mount: Ensure the rubber mounting gasket between the sink flange and disposal is intact and seated properly. Replace if torn or deformed.
- Test with water: Restore power, run cold water, and briefly operate the disposal. If severe vibration persists, the grinding plate may be warped and the unit should be replaced.
