Possible Causes
Overload protector tripped during outage, Power surge damaging motor or internal wiring, GFCI outlet tripped, Loose connection shaken by outage event
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Ensure the wall switch is OFF before resetting anything.
- Reset GFCI: If the disposal is plugged into a GFCI outlet, press the RESET button on the outlet.
- Press disposal reset: Press the red reset button on the bottom of the Waste Maid unit until it clicks.
- Check breaker: Verify the kitchen circuit breaker is fully ON. Reset if tripped.
- Inspect connections: Check the under-sink junction box or plug connection for loosened wires.
- Test operation: Turn ON the wall switch. If the unit remains dead after these steps, internal surge damage may have occurred and the disposal should be replaced.
