Waste Maid
Cross-Connection / Partial Drain Blockage
Water backs up into the opposite sink bowl when the Waste Maid disposal runs (double-bowl sink)

Possible Causes
Improperly installed baffle tee, Clogged shared drain line, Incorrect height of trap arms, Grease buildup in cross tube
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Turn OFF the disposal and do not continue running it while water backs up.
- Inspect under-sink plumbing: Verify that the disposal discharge connects to a baffle tee designed for double sinks and that the trap arms slope correctly.
- Clean the cross tube: Remove the horizontal tube between the two sink bowls and clear any grease or food buildup.
- Check the P-trap and wall arm: Remove and clean the P-trap and the drain arm going into the wall.
- Reassemble correctly: Ensure the baffle tee is oriented so that flow from the disposal is directed down, not across into the other bowl.
- Test with water: Run water and the disposal to confirm that water no longer backs up into the opposite bowl.
