Possible Causes
Water temperature near freezing, Ambient temperature very low, Freeze protection sensor triggered, Spa left uncovered in winter
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not disable freeze protection; it prevents plumbing damage.
ICE indicates the spa is automatically running pumps and possibly the heater to prevent freezing.
- Keep cover on: Ensure the American Whirlpool cover is in good condition and properly closed to retain heat.
- Verify water level: Maintain proper water level so all plumbing remains submerged.
- Allow system to run: Let the spa operate in freeze protection mode until temperatures rise.
- Winterize if not in use: If you do not plan to use the spa in freezing conditions, have it professionally winterized and drained.
If ICE appears in mild weather, a sensor may be misreading and should be checked by a technician.
