Possible Causes

Panel lock feature activated, Inadvertent button sequence pressed, User lockout timer active

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: No electrical service is required.

LOC indicates the topside control panel is locked to prevent accidental changes.

  • Unlock sequence: Refer to your American Whirlpool manual for the specific button combination (commonly holding down two buttons simultaneously for several seconds) to unlock the panel.
  • Check for partial lock: Some models allow temperature lock but leave jets operational. Verify which functions are locked.
  • Reset if needed: If the panel will not unlock, turn power off at the GFCI for 30 seconds, then restore power and try the unlock sequence again.

If the panel remains locked or unresponsive, the topside control panel may be failing and require replacement.
