Possible Causes

Air trapped in pump after refill, Closed slice valves, Clogged filter, Debris in pump impeller

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power at the GFCI breaker before loosening any unions.

Weak or no jets with the pump running usually indicates an air lock or blockage.

  • Check water level: Ensure the spa is filled to the proper level above all jets and suctions.
  • Open all jets: Turn each jet face counterclockwise to the fully open position.
  • Bleed air from pump: Loosen the union on the suction side of the jet pump until air and then water escapes, then retighten.
  • Clean filter: Remove and rinse the American Whirlpool filter cartridge; try running briefly without the filter to test jet strength.
  • Inspect pump impeller: If flow is still weak, remove the pump wet end and check for debris wrapped around the impeller.

Persistent weak jets may indicate a worn impeller or failing pump motor that should be replaced.
