Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the GFCI breaker. Do not operate the spa with an active leak near electrical components.
Leaks in the equipment bay are often accessible and repairable.
- Locate the source: Remove the front panel and use a flashlight to trace moisture to its highest point. Dry the area and observe while briefly running the pumps.
- Check unions: Hand-tighten pump and heater unions. If leaking persists, turn power off, loosen, inspect O‑rings, and replace if flattened or cracked.
- Inspect pump seal: If water drips from under the pump motor where it meets the wet end, the shaft seal is likely failed and the wet end should be rebuilt or replaced.
- Repair PVC fittings: For cracked fittings, drain the spa below the leak and replace the fitting using proper PVC primer and cement.
Significant leaks or those near electrical components should be evaluated by a spa technician to prevent further damage.
