Possible Causes

Deteriorated jet gasket, Cracked jet body, Loose jet retaining nut, Freeze damage to plumbing behind shell

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power and lower water level below the leaking jet before disassembly.

Leaks around jets usually originate from the jet body or gasket behind the shell.

  • Identify leaking jets: Look for moisture trails or damp insulation behind the shell near specific jets.
  • Remove jet internals: Twist and pull out the jet insert to access the body.
  • Access backside (if possible): Remove side panels and insulation to reach the rear of the leaking jet body.
  • Tighten retaining nut: Gently tighten the jet body nut from the backside. Do not overtighten, as this can crack the shell or body.
  • Replace gasket if needed: If the gasket is brittle or deformed, remove the jet body and install a new gasket compatible with American Whirlpool jets.

Extensive jet leaks or those requiring shell penetration work are best handled by an experienced spa repair technician.
