Possible Causes
Air lock in heater manifold, Very low water level in spa, Blocked suction or closed slice valve, Failed circulation pump not moving water through heater
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power at the breaker before opening unions or valves. Running the heater without water can cause severe damage.
- Step 1 – Check water level: Ensure the spa is filled to the recommended level, typically above all suction fittings and at least halfway up the skimmer opening.
- Step 2 – Inspect filter and suctions: Remove and clean the AquaRest filter cartridge. Check suction fittings and skimmer for debris or blockages.
- Step 3 – Bleed air from heater and pump: In the equipment bay, slightly loosen the unions on the heater and pump until water flows steadily, then retighten. This removes trapped air that can trigger DR.
- Step 4 – Verify pump operation: Restore power and observe the circulation or low-speed pump. If it hums but does not move water, it may be seized or air-locked. Try briefly toggling the pump on/off to clear air.
- Step 5 – Reset error: Turn power off for 5 minutes, then back on. If DR returns immediately with proper water level and flow, the heater or sensor may be damaged and should be inspected by a technician.
