Possible Causes
Repeated dry-fire detection after DR event, Severely restricted flow through heater, Failed heater pressure/flow sensing circuit, Burned-out heater element from prior dry-fire
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power and allow components to cool before inspection.
- Step 1 – Resolve all DR causes: Follow the DR troubleshooting steps to ensure proper water level, clear filters, and no air locks.
- Step 2 – Inspect heater for damage: With power off, remove the access panel and visually inspect the heater tube for discoloration, bulging, or leaks—signs of dry-fire damage.
- Step 3 – Check heater resistance: Using a multimeter (only if you are qualified), measure resistance across the heater terminals on the AquaRest control pack. An open circuit indicates a failed heater element.
- Step 4 – Reset control pack: Turn off the breaker for 10 minutes, then restore power. Some packs require a longer power-off period to clear DY.
If DY persists and the heater tests good, the control board's dry-fire detection circuit may be faulty and should be serviced by a professional.
