Possible Causes
Open heater element, Tripped high-limit that will not reset, Burned heater relay on control board, Loose heater wiring at control pack
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power at the breaker and verify with a meter before touching heater terminals.
- Step 1 – Inspect heater wiring: Open the control pack and check that the heater leads are securely fastened to the heater terminals and control board, with no signs of burning.
- Step 2 – Check for leaks: Inspect the heater tube and unions for leaks that could damage electrical connections.
- Step 3 – Test heater element: If qualified, use a multimeter to measure resistance across the heater terminals. An infinite reading indicates a failed element.
- Step 4 – Replace heater: If the element is open or the tube is damaged, replace the heater assembly with an AquaRest-compatible unit, ensuring all O-rings and unions are properly sealed.
If the heater tests good but Htr persists, the control board heater relay may be defective and require professional replacement.
