Possible Causes
Water temperature near freezing, Faulty low-temperature sensor, Control pack configured for aggressive freeze protection, Spa installed in uninsulated outdoor area
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Do not disable freeze protection in cold climates; this can cause severe damage.
- Step 1 – Confirm water temperature: Use a thermometer to verify that water is near or below 40°F (4°C). If so, the ICE message is normal and the spa is protecting itself.
- Step 2 – Check cover and insulation: Ensure the AquaRest spa cover is in good condition and sealed. Inspect cabinet panels for gaps that allow cold air into the equipment bay.
- Step 3 – Verify sensor accuracy: If ICE appears when water is clearly warm, inspect the temperature sensor wiring and connections at the control pack. A failed sensor may falsely trigger freeze mode.
- Step 4 – Power cycle: After verifying wiring, reset power. If ICE persists with warm water, replace the temperature sensor.
In very cold environments, consider additional insulation or a small safe heat source in the equipment bay (installed by a professional) to reduce freeze cycling.
