Possible Causes
Heater energized without water, Severe air lock, Closed slice valves around heater, Empty spa or very low water level
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power immediately to prevent heater damage.
- Verify water level: Ensure the spa is fully filled to the recommended level.
- Open all valves: In the equipment bay, confirm that all slice valves near the pump and heater are fully open (handles pulled up and locked).
- Bleed heater and pump: Loosen heater and pump unions to purge air until water flows steadily, then retighten.
- Inspect heater tube: If the heater has already run dry, it may be scorched or warped and should be inspected for damage.
- Reset and test: Restore power and monitor for normal flow and absence of drY. If drY returns, do not continue to run the spa.
A heater that has run dry may need replacement. Have a technician evaluate the heater and flow system.
