Possible Causes
Partially blocked filter, Weak circulation pump, Partially closed slice valve, Scale buildup in heater tube
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker before working on the spa.
- Clean filter: Remove and thoroughly clean the Aquaterra filter cartridge. Replace if old or damaged.
- Check valves: In the equipment bay, ensure all slice valves on either side of the pump and heater are fully pulled up (open). Locked-down valves will restrict flow.
- Inspect circulation: Restore power and verify strong water movement from the heater return. Weak flow suggests a failing circulation pump.
- Descale heater (advanced): If your water is hard and the heater is older, internal scale may be restricting flow. This requires removing the heater assembly and descaling or replacing it, best done by a technician.
If HFL persists after filter and valve checks, the circulation pump or heater assembly likely needs service.
