Possible Causes
Water temperature near freezing, Temperature sensor detecting low temperature, Outdoor ambient temperature very low
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not shut off power to the spa in freezing conditions; freeze protection relies on powered circulation.
- Verify outdoor conditions: ICE mode is normal when the spa is exposed to freezing temperatures. The system runs pumps to prevent plumbing from freezing.
- Check water level and cover: Ensure the spa is full and the cover is properly sealed to help maintain temperature.
- Monitor for normal exit: Once the water temperature rises above the freeze threshold, the ICE message should clear automatically.
- Sensor check: If ICE appears in warm weather, the temperature sensor may be faulty and reading too low, requiring replacement.
Continuous ICE mode in non-freezing conditions indicates a sensor or control issue that should be diagnosed by a spa technician.
