Possible Causes
High dissolved solids from body oils and soaps, Low sanitizer level, Incorrect pH or alkalinity, Dirty filter cartridge
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Avoid using the spa until water chemistry is corrected.
- Test water: Use Aquaterra-approved test strips or a liquid kit to check sanitizer, pH, and alkalinity.
- Shock treatment: Add a non-chlorine shock or chlorine shock according to label directions to oxidize contaminants.
- Adjust balance: Bring pH and alkalinity into the recommended range for Aquaterra Spas.
- Clean filter: Remove and thoroughly clean the filter cartridge. Replace if more than 1–2 years old.
- Drain and refill if needed: If foam and odor persist, drain the spa completely, clean the shell, and refill with fresh water.
Persistent water quality issues may require consultation with a pool/spa water specialist.
