Possible Causes
Stuck heater relay causing continuous heating, Faulty temperature sensor reading low, Poor water circulation around heater, Spa cover left on during high ambient temperatures
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker immediately to stop heating. Do not use the spa until temperature is safe.
- Remove cover: Open or remove the spa cover to allow heat to dissipate. Let the water cool to below 38–40°C (100–104°F).
- Check circulation: Once cooled, verify that the circulation pump is running and that there is strong flow from the circulation outlet.
- Inspect sensors: Check that the temperature and high-limit sensors are properly seated in the heater tube or sensor wells and that their cables are intact.
- Monitor heating cycle: Restore power and observe whether the heater turns off when the set temperature is reached. If the heater continues to heat beyond the setpoint, the heater relay or control board is likely stuck and must be replaced.
