Possible Causes
Insufficient water level in spa, Air lock in heater manifold, Blocked filter or closed valves, Failed circulation pump preventing water through heater
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the GFCI breaker. Running the heater without water can cause severe damage.
- Check water level: Ensure the spa is filled to the proper level above all suction fittings and skimmers. Top up if low.
- Clean filter: Remove and thoroughly rinse the filter cartridge. Try running the spa briefly without the filter to see if DR clears.
- Open valves: Confirm all slice/knife valves around the pumps and heater are fully open.
- Bleed air: Loosen unions at the pump and heater slightly to release trapped air until water seeps out, then retighten.
- Check circulation pump: Restore power and verify that the Arctic Spas circulation pump is running and that you can see water movement in the spa.
- Persistent DR: If DR returns and there is no visible flow, the circulation pump may be faulty and require replacement.
