Possible Causes

Repeated low-flow or dry-fire detection, Severely restricted filter, Persistent air lock in plumbing, Failing circulation pump or blocked heater manifold

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power at the GFCI breaker before attempting to clear a dry condition.

  • Resolve flow issues first: Follow the same steps as for DR: verify water level, clean/remove filter, open valves, and bleed air from pump and heater unions.
  • Inspect heater tube: Check the stainless heater tube for signs of discoloration or scorching, which indicate past dry-fire events.
  • Reset lockout: After correcting flow, leave power off for at least 5 minutes, then restore power to allow the control to reset the DY lockout.
  • Monitor operation: Watch the spa through a full heating cycle to ensure the DY code does not return.
  • If DY persists: The heater element or control board may have been damaged by repeated dry-fire and may need replacement.
