Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power at the GFCI breaker. Running a heater without water can cause serious damage.
- Check water level: Confirm the spa is fully filled to the recommended level. Top off if needed.
- Clean filters: Remove and thoroughly rinse filters. For testing, leave them out temporarily.
- Bleed air from heater and pumps: Loosen unions on the heater manifold and circulation pump until water flows steadily and air is released, then retighten.
- Inspect circulation pump: Restore power and verify that the circulation pump is running and water is moving through the heater return. If not, the pump may be failed or air-locked.
- Reset error: After restoring proper flow, power cycle the spa. If dr returns quickly, the heater may have been damaged and should be tested for continuity and ground faults.
Do not continue to reset and run the spa with a dr error; have a technician evaluate the heater and circulation system if the problem persists.
