Possible Causes
Seized pump bearings, Failed start capacitor, Debris jammed in pump impeller, Low supply voltage or wiring issue
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker before touching the pump or wiring.
- Check for obstructions: Remove pump unions and inspect the impeller area for debris (stones, plastic, etc.).
- Spin shaft (if accessible): Try to rotate the motor shaft by hand with power off. If it is locked, the motor bearings may be seized.
- Inspect capacitor: Many pumps have an external start capacitor under a cover. A bulged or leaking capacitor should be replaced with the same rating.
Because of electrical and mechanical risks, pump motor repair or replacement is best handled by a spa technician.
