Possible Causes

Worn pump shaft seal, Loose pump unions, Cracked pump wet end housing

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power and close slice valves (if present) before removing pump unions.

  • Inspect unions: Check for drips at the pump inlet and outlet unions. Tighten by hand and re-test.
  • Check wet end housing: Look for cracks in the plastic housing. Replace the wet end if cracked.
  • Replace shaft seal: If water leaks from between the motor and wet end, the shaft seal has failed and the wet end should be rebuilt or replaced.

Seal replacement requires disassembly of the pump and is typically done by a spa service professional.
