Possible Causes
Seized pump impeller, Foreign object in pump housing, Shorted pump motor windings, Loose or burnt pump connector at control box
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the spa before touching the pump or opening any panels. Water and electricity are a dangerous combination.
- Check for obstructions:
- Remove the filter and visually inspect the suction area for debris.
- Access the circulation/jet pump and remove the pump cover if possible.
- Manually spin the impeller with a non-metallic tool; it should turn freely.
- Inspect wiring:
- Locate the pump connector on the control box PCB.
- Check for discoloration, melting, or loose pins.
- Reseat the connector firmly.
- Test restart: Plug the spa back in and attempt to start filtration or jets. If E04 appears immediately and the pump does not even hum, the motor may be shorted.
- Replace pump if seized or shorted:
- If the impeller will not turn or the motor trips protection instantly, replace the complete Avenli pump assembly with the correct model for your spa.
- Ensure all O-rings and gaskets are correctly seated to prevent leaks.
- If wiring damage is found: Burnt connectors or PCB traces indicate the control box assembly may also need replacement.
