Possible Causes
Water inside control box, Damaged heater insulation causing leakage to ground, Cracked pump housing, Faulty RCD/GFCI plug
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: If a ground fault is suspected, do not attempt to operate the spa until the fault is located and corrected. Risk of electric shock.
- Inspect for moisture:
- Unplug the spa and open the control box housing.
- Look for water droplets, corrosion, or damp insulation.
- Dry thoroughly and allow 24 hours before retesting.
- Check heater and pump housings:
- Inspect the heater tube and pump body for cracks or burn marks.
- Any sign of leakage or damage requires replacement of the affected component.
- Test RCD/GFCI plug:
- Press the TEST and RESET buttons on the plug (if equipped) according to the manual.
- If it will not reset, the plug assembly may be faulty and should be replaced.
- Persistent E13: If no visible damage is found, a megohmmeter (insulation tester) is needed to check heater and pump insulation. This should be done by a qualified technician. Replace the leaking component or the entire control box and heater assembly as required.
