Possible Causes

Stuck heater relay on Beachcomber control pack, Temperature sensor out of calibration, Cover left on during extended high-ambient temperatures, Poor circulation causing hot spots near sensor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Do not enter the spa when OH is displayed. Turn off power at the GFCI.

  • Cool the spa: Remove the cover and allow the water to cool naturally. You can add some cool water to speed the process, but do not shock the shell with very cold water if it is extremely hot.
  • Verify set temperature: After cooling and restoring power, confirm the set temperature on the keypad is reasonable (e.g., 100–102°F / 37–39°C).
  • Check circulation: Ensure the circulation pump is running and that there is strong flow from the heater return. Clean the filter if flow is weak.
  • Compare with external thermometer: Use a reliable spa thermometer to compare actual water temperature with the displayed temperature. A large difference suggests a faulty temperature sensor.

If the spa continues to overheat or the heater runs when it should be off, the heater relay on the control board may be stuck closed and must be replaced by a professional.
