Possible Causes
Air trapped in pump housing after refill, Closed slice valves on suction or return, Broken pump impeller, Suction blockage at skimmer or footwell intake
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power at the GFCI before working on the pump.
- Verify valves: Ensure all slice valves around the pump are fully open.
- Bleed pump: Loosen the pump union on the discharge side slightly until air escapes and water begins to leak, then retighten.
- Check suction: Inspect skimmer and suction fittings for obstructions.
- Re-prime: Restore power and run the pump on high for 30–60 seconds to re-establish prime.
If the pump motor runs but never moves water, the impeller may be broken or the pump may be installed incorrectly and should be serviced.
