Possible Causes
Water temperature near freezing, Ambient temperature very low, Temperature sensor reading near freeze threshold
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Do not shut off power to the spa during freezing conditions; the system is protecting plumbing from damage.
- Verify conditions: Check outdoor temperature and water temperature. ICE mode is normal when temperatures are near freezing.
- Keep cover on: Ensure the Bullfrog cover is closed and latched to minimize heat loss.
- Check for proper heating: Confirm that the heater is operating and that the spa is gaining temperature over time. If not, troubleshoot heater and flow issues (FLO, dr, OH errors).
- Inspect sensors if abnormal: If ICE appears in warm weather, test the temperature sensors and replace any that are out of specification.
ICE will clear automatically once the water temperature rises above the freeze threshold. If it does not, a sensor or control logic fault may be present.
