Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn OFF power at the GFCI breaker and verify no voltage is present before working on pumps.
- Inspect Pump 1 wiring: Open the equipment bay and locate Pump 1. Check that its power cord is firmly plugged into the Pump 1 receptacle on the control pack and that there are no burned or melted connectors.
- Check for obstructions: With power OFF, remove the pump faceplate if accessible and inspect the impeller for debris. Spin the motor shaft by hand (from the rear) to ensure it turns freely.
- Test motor windings: Use a multimeter to check resistance across the motor leads. A dead short or open circuit indicates a failed motor.
- Verify supply voltage: Confirm that the control pack is configured for the correct input voltage (120/240V) and that Pump 1 is rated for that voltage.
- Replace Pump 1 if seized: If the motor is locked or windings are shorted, replace the Pump 1 assembly with a Bullfrog-approved jet pump of the same horsepower and frame size.
If a known-good pump still triggers a P1 error, the Pump 1 relay or drive circuit on the control board may be defective and require replacement of the control pack.
