Bullfrog Spas
Reduced Jet Flow / Hydraulic Restriction
Jets are weak or some seats have very low water pressure even when pumps are on high speed
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Dirty or clogged Bullfrog filter cartridges, Airlock in jet pump, Partially closed diverter valves on Bullfrog JetPaks, Debris in pump impeller or plumbing
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn OFF power at the GFCI breaker before removing filters or opening unions.
- Clean filters: Remove all filters and rinse thoroughly. Replace if they are old or heavily stained.
- Check diverter valves: On Bullfrog spas with JetPaks and diverter valves, ensure the valves are fully open toward the seats you want to use. Partially closed valves will reduce flow.
- Bleed pump airlock: Loosen the union on the suction side of the affected jet pump until water flows steadily, then retighten. This removes trapped air that can reduce flow.
- Inspect JetPaks: Remove individual JetPaks and check the rear manifold and orifices for debris. Reseat them firmly into the Bullfrog manifold to prevent bypassing.
- Check for obstructions: Inspect suction fittings and skimmer areas inside the spa for leaves, toys, or other debris blocking flow.
If jet flow remains weak with clean filters and open valves, the pump impeller may be worn or partially blocked and the pump may need service or replacement.
