Possible Causes
Loose pump union on Bullfrog jet pump or circulation pump, Cracked heater manifold, Failed pump shaft seal, Split PVC plumbing fitting
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn OFF power at the GFCI breaker and do not operate the spa with an active leak near electrical components.
- Identify leak source: Dry the equipment bay with towels. Refill the spa if needed and briefly restore power to pressurize the system. Observe carefully to see where water first appears (pump unions, heater ends, manifolds).
- Tighten unions: With power OFF again, hand-tighten any loose pump or heater unions. Use large channel-lock pliers gently if needed, but do not overtighten and crack the fittings.
- Inspect pump seals: If water is dripping from between the pump wet end and motor, the shaft seal has failed. The pump must be rebuilt with a new seal kit or replaced.
- Repair cracked fittings: For cracked PVC elbows or manifolds, drain the spa below the leak level, cut out the damaged section, and glue in new Bullfrog-compatible fittings using PVC primer and cement.
- Retest for leaks: Refill, restore power, and monitor the equipment bay for any further leakage.
