Possible Causes
Loose heater union on Caldera heater, Cracked pump wet end, Leaking slice valve, Split PVC plumbing fitting or manifold
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the GFCI breaker and do not run the spa while it is leaking.
- Locate leak source: Remove the equipment door and use a flashlight to trace moisture to its highest point. Check heater unions, pump unions, and slice valves first.
- Tighten unions: Hand-tighten heater and pump unions. Do not overtighten with tools, as this can crack the fittings.
- Inspect pump wet end: Look for cracks around the volute and seal plate. A drip from the motor/pump interface often indicates a failed shaft seal.
- Temporary containment: Place a catch pan or towels to protect the equipment until repairs are made.
Repairing cracked plumbing or replacing pump wet ends typically requires cutting and gluing PVC and is best handled by an experienced spa technician.
