Possible Causes
Worn pump motor bearings, Air in pump causing cavitation, Debris in pump impeller, Pump mounted loosely to base
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the GFCI breaker before touching the pump.
- Check for air: Bleed air from pump unions and ensure water level is adequate. Air in the pump can cause loud cavitation noises.
- Inspect mounting: Verify that the pump is securely bolted to the equipment base and that rubber isolation mounts are intact.
- Debris check: Remove the pump wet end (with spa drained or lines clamped) and inspect the impeller for debris or damage.
- Replace pump: If the motor bearings are noisy or rough when spun by hand, replace the pump motor or complete pump assembly.
